The Texas Business and Professional Women's Foundation (Texas BPW Foundation) created the Success Kit 4 Managers program. Texas BPW Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering women to achieve their full potential. Since 1990, we have advocated for issues affecting Texas women including the establishment of the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. We partner with state-wide members to provide educational opportunities through scholarships, seminars, leadership programs and networking events. Texas BPW Foundation is affiliated with Business and Professional Women's Foundation.
Success Kit 4 Managers
As demands in the workplace evolve, the skills necessary to compete evolve. Managers are expected to have a full range of talents, but how do they acquire them? There are a variety of resources available to teach these skills, but it can be difficult to sort through them all. It can be daunting trying to find the right source for advice. The Success Kit 4 Managers takes the guess-work out of the equation. We make it simple for you.
Texas BPW's program provides information in easy, bite-sized pieces. Our aim is to provide the tools, tips and resources to help first-time managers. (Or anyone wanting to enhance their leadership skills). We know you don't have a lot of time, so we have created a custom curriculum that is effective and quick to learn.
Our team of managers and entrepreneurs are sharing lessons they've learned with you for free. As part of a charitable organization, we want to empower you to climb the corporate ladder with confidence. You deserve to reach the next level in your career.
The best part is, you're not alone! We're providing a community of peers to help you along the way. Whether you're in business for yourself or working in corporate America, you can tap into the collective experience of the community within the Texas BPW Foundation and its partner organizations.
Meet the Team
Success Coach and Success Kit Creator
I've been in your shoes and I know how exciting, but scary, stepping out of your comfort zone and into a leadership position can be. But it's even scarier to keep fear from letting you take the steps to become the manager you've always wanted to be.
As I was moving up the ladder from admin positions to management roles, my career choices weren't always intentional or focused. I went from one job to another and it was only due to my mentors and some talents that I moved into managerial roles. I've been a manager, business owner, entrepreneur, volunteer leader, board member, association executive and several other titles during my career.
My experience includes working for the Texas Self Storage Association as Director of Operations, Marketing & Membership and launching my own consulting business Arcadia Management Services.
I've worked with The National Center for Victims of Crime in New York and Washington, D.C. for several years. I served as President of Texas Business Women from 2010-2011 and am an active member of the Austin Local Organization. I've received recognition for 2002 Outstanding Region Director, 2008 Woman of the Year, 2002 Who’s Who in Association Management, and achieved the Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation in 2014.
The very best thing I ever did was to continue to seek out mentors. Just like you, I looked for people who could help me be a better manager, an effective leader, and a productive employee. I'm so pleased to have the opportunity to reach out to new managers, and others looking to enhance their skills. Let me reassure you that you are NOT alone on this path and together, we can travel to great heights.
